SPACE COMPONENT DESIGN, ASSEMBLY AND MANUFACTURING
With our government promoting private investments in the space sector through its ‘Make in India’ campaign, commercial and private companies have scope to enter the space sector. With over 60 years of space mission experience and expertise, India makes a great place for building space-based business. There is a lot of scope for start-ups in India, where they would build their own satellite, access space frequencies and operate thus providing their services to general public, conduct routine telemetry, telecommand and payload data operations.
India does have a satellite communication policy, but it was instituted with a Direct-To-Home (DTH) service provider in mind, rather than companies that would want other services like remote sensing. This policy also extends to setting up ground station facilities to uplink and downlink to space assets over Indian geography thus making it in-accessible for private companies. Considering these setbacks, our government is planning to launch a board and make space accessible and thus promote private engagement in space activities. AAL wants to come into picture here by providing access to both private and governed organizations at its space station.
AAL, aspires to establish a Scientific and Commercial space base within the aerotropolis in collaboration with international key player, Yuzhmash. Yuzhmash, is a Ukrainian state-owned aerospace manufacturer. It produces spacecraft, launch vehicles (rockets), liquid-propellant rockets, landing gears, castings, forgings, tractors, tools, and industrial products. The company is headquartered in Dnipro, and it works with international aerospace partners in 23 countries. YUZHMASH is a full cycle company. Production of the main body components and units, assembling and testing under conditions similar to the open space is carried out at its own unique industrial base.
AAL is all set to design and manufacture space components. Thus, adding an edge to India’s foreign policy with our increased space capabilities and developing our industrial potential in the aerospace sector.
