MULTIBRAND MAINTENANCE REPAIR AND OVERHAUL (MRO)
Aircraft MRO is the overhaul, repair, inspection or modification of an aircraft or aircraft component to keep it operational and air worthy. MRO has become an indispensable activity of air assets in the aviation industry. MRO is a multi-billion-dollar industry growing at a robust rate year-on-year.
The MRO space is almost untapped in our country. The civil aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry of India is at a nascent stage and at present constitutes only 1 percent of the total global MRO market and is anticipated to grow to $4.33 Billion by 2025 increasing at a CAGR of about 14-15 percent. The rapidly growing aircraft fleet and growth in domestic traffic and the increasing age of Indian aircrafts (both civil and defence), the MRO activities in India is expected to witness a significant growth in coming years.
Airlines, in India spend about 15% of their revenue towards maintenance. With different types of aircrafts operating in domestic and international level, as well as in general aviation, each type of aircraft requires trained manpower specially catered to its needs.
AAL aims to capture this market by providing MRO service to all Antonov series and few narrow body aircrafts throughout the Asia-Pacific region by establishing a hangar of 8,500 sq. mts. It will cater to the maintenance needs of the regional and global Airline customers and is being developed to provide Engineering and Maintenance service operations on Narrow Body Aircraft like B737NG, ATR42/72 and A320 family of aircraft types and on wide body aircraft like B777 & A330. The facility will include 1 Wide body hangar, 1 Narrow body hangar with 2 bays, and 1 Narrow body cum Paint Hangar. At any point of time, maintenance services can be provided to five aircrafts simultaneously, with wide and narrow body configuration.
By establishing such efficient MRO service, AAL hopes not only creates large scale employment opportunities for our SME’s but also attracts work from overseas and will result in an overall lift of the economy.
